Kerry Vargo
Certified Nutrition Therapist
I have always had a passion for personal self-care and wellness. This lead me on my journey of becoming a certified nutrition therapist where I gained a thorough understanding of the interconnectedness of all bodily systems and its connection to our mental health. Now, more than ever before, mental, emotional, and physical balance should be our highest value.
At Mindful Nutrition for Life, I take the approach of seeking optimal wellness through the lens of looking to the root cause rather than putting a band-aide on the symptom. All too often mental disorders and symptoms stem from other chronic conditions and once these are addressed mental issues diminish and/or open the door for continued healing. Most persons in addiction recovery suffer from nutrient deficiency which can impact their physical and psychological health. Most treatment modalities don't offer nutritional assistance or individualized nutrition therapy. Without biochemical healing the rest is lost.

Setting goals, staying active, spending time outdoors, and modeling a healthy lifestyle are very much a part of who I am. That passion somehow always worked its way into coaching, teaching, and empowering others.
After 10 years of running a nonprofit that empowered kids to learn a healthy lifestyle, achieve goals, and fight childhood obesity, the time came to move on to other things that were calling to me.
Mental health wellness and addiction recovery involves a combination of nutrition and lifestyle integration. My Nutrition Therapy Masters education from NTI (Nutrition Therapy Institute) has given me science-based knowledge in holistic healing. Healing begins in our gut. As a Level One Restorative Wellness Practitioner, I bring the skill and knowledge to administer gastrointestinal testing and results driven healing protocol based on objective data- testing not guessing. Because mental fitness and addiction recovery first steps are to bring the body and brain back into balance, I am enrolled in The Academy for Addiction and Mental Health Nutrition. In addition, I hold a BS in Psychology and Business, 200-hour yoga teacher training, 300-hour Kaiut yoga teacher training, and 16 years coaching youth track and high school cross country; all serving to enhance my ability to better understand mental health, coach and teach, and administer stress-reduction and lifestyle medicines.
